I'm not using an adblocker why do I get a warning message?

Modified on Wed, 12 Feb at 9:26 AM

If you are using counter measures to prevent our advertisements from displaying you may see warning messages or access to certain content might be blocked. If you see a warning message it means that something is blocking our ads from loading.

Let's clarify the potential causes behind this:

Browser plugins or extensions: Please ensure that you are not using an extension, scripts or browser that blocks or prevents our ads from displaying.

Network-Level Ad Blocking: It's possible that the network you're connected to has built-in ad blocking mechanisms. This is often the case in specific corporate, academic, or public networks where they aim to streamline internet usage.

VPN Services: Many VPN (Virtual Private Network) services come with integrated ad-blocking functionalities. While this can be beneficial for some users, it may unintentionally interfere with sites like ours that rely on ad revenue.

DNS-Level Blocking: Some users might have configured their DNS settings (Domain Name System) to block ads. This system translates domain names to IP addresses, and if set to block ads, it could prevent them from loading on websites.

Pi-hole or Similar Tools: Tools like Pi-hole, often set up on devices like Raspberry Pi, are designed to block ads at the network level. If you're using such a system, it might be the reason for the warning you're seeing.

If you wish to support Wouter Planet and ensure seamless access to our content, we recommend reviewing the settings of your VPN, checking your DNS configuration, or consulting with your network administrator, especially if you're on a larger or institutional network.
